Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
So today I watched Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, this film was directed and written by Tommy Wirkola who you may know from writing and directing Dead Snow.
So lets have a little re-cap of the story line shall we, Hansel and Gretel are bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the the world. As the Fabled blood moon approaches the sibling encounter a new form of evil that might hold a secret to their past.
Ok so the cast in this film is amazing in this film we have Jeremy Renner as Hansel you may know him from The Avenger Assemble, The Hurt Locker and The Borne Legacy. So in this film Hansel is this high action guy who will protect his sister at any lengths as she is the only family that he has left in the whole world. When he was a child he ate so much candy that he was cursed with the sugar sickness/ curse witch means that if he doesn't have this mediasin injected in himself every few hours he will die because of the sickness.
Next we have the extremely beautiful Gemma Arterton as Gretel you may also know her from films such as Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time, Clash Of The Titans and St. Trinains. So Gretel is this bad ass fighter who will do anything to protect her brother and the innocent people from the witches. She also wants to find out about her past and what happened to her parents, and why isn't cant her or her brother effected by the dark magic.
Now we have miss Famke Jansson who plays Muriel but you may know Famke from films like X-Men, X2 and X-Men The Last Stand. Ok so Muriel is a witch but not just any witch she is a grand high witch this means that she can change her appearance from a witch to just a normal human face when ever she wishes, this helps her get around during the day and no one would suspect her of anything so she can get important information and set her plans in motion with no one knowing.
And last but no means least we have Pihla Viitala as the oh so lovely Mina you may know her from a film called Tears Of April. Mina in this film she is a woman who is accused of being a witch but is saved by Hansel and Gretel from her death. Mina is this very sweet woman who seems to have a quite obvious thing fir Hansel, but she is a very sweet woman all the same with a secret.
Ok so this film is defiantly not a family film as there is a lot of violence swearing and some sexual content in this film. This film is a amazing though for the action and the grate twist to a classic fairy tale. I'd defo give this film an 8/10 its a very enjoyable film and its a good film to watch with some friends and just really relax and get into the film.
